EBSCO Setup Guide

There are four ways for Kansas libraries to set up EBSCO

  1. Post the link www.kslc.org on your website. From here, patrons can log in with their Kansas Library Card (issued by any Kansas library.) After logging in, they will be able to access EBSCO resources from a list of our databases from any location inside and outside of Kansas.

    Pros
    • Easy setup
    • Easy access to ALL of our databases
    • Accessible inside and outside of KS when they need access
    • Patrons must obtain a KS Library Card

    Cons
    • Patrons are directed away from your website
    • Patrons may not have a KS Library Card available

  2. Use your EBSCOadmin account to set up most standard access methods. At EBSCO Admin, log in with your admin username and password.
NOTE: Most existing accounts, including those discontinued when the last EBSCO contract ended, have been updated and activated. If you don’t know your login or need to create a new account, contact kslc@ks.gov

    Pros
    • Patrons can stay on your website while using EBSCO
    • Patrons can use EBSCO from anywhere inside and outside of KS
    • Patrons can gain access by using your library card

    Cons
    • Initial setup time

  3. Request a URL (able to recognize IP locations) to paste a link on your website. This link will allow your patrons to use EBSCO resources anywhere in Kansas through your website, no log in required. This is a specialized URL, and you must request a link from the State Library. Please email kslc@ks.gov for this URL.

    Pros
    • Patrons can stay on your website while using EBSCO
    • No log in required

    Cons
    • In state access only

  4. If you already carry EBSCO products, your existing portal and administration account is being modified to include statewide rescources as well as those you purchase directly. If you have questions about the setup of your account, or about duplication issues, please contact your EBSCO sales rep.
